Azerbaijani-Jordanian relations developing

Relations between Jordan and Azerbaijan are steadily developing in the political, economic and investment fields, the Azerbaijani envoy has said.

Elman Arasli told a press conference in Amman on Wednesday that the two countries had signed 35 bilateral agreements to date, following visits by King Abdullah to Azerbaijan and President Aliyev to Jordan, Jordanian news agency Petra reported.

An Azerbaijani delegation left Jordan on 18 January, having discussed cooperation in communications and information technology.

The ambassador praised the efforts of King Abdullah to bring about peace and security in the region.

He hailed Jordan's initiative to hold a series of meetings in Amman between the Palestinians and Israelis in an attempt to break the deadlock in the peace talks and arrive at a two-state solution to the conflict, which would see the establishment of Palestine as an independent state.
